Volunteering events
We run a series of volunteer related events throughout the academic year that your organisation can get involved in. These include:
Volunteering Fair
The Volunteering Fair attracts hundreds of students interested in volunteering with charities and not-for-profit organisations. This is our main student-facing event, providing you with a great chance to promote your organisation directly to our students and is free to attend.
The 2025 Fair was hosted in partnership with the Students' Union, and took place on Monday 6 October 2025. It was a free event, providing a brilliant opportunity for our partner organisations to showcase their great volunteering opportunities to our students and recruit new volunteers.
We hold the Volunteering Fair annually, with the next one taking place in October 2026.
Student Volunteering Week
This week-long celebration of everything to do with student volunteering takes place in February every year! The last Student Volunteering Week took place from Monday 9 to Sunday 15 February 2026.
Volunteer of the Year Awards
The University of Manchester hosts its annual Volunteer of the Year Awards in which we celebrate the contributions of University of Manchester students.
The 2026 Award Ceremony is taking place on Tuesday 5 May 2026, with all the winners announced then. There is still time to nominate, with nominations for the 2026 Awards open until Monday 2 March 2026.
